What is RSS?
RSS (“Really Simple Syndication”) is an easy way to receive news or updated event information from many websites in one place, without the need to visit all of the sites directly. RSS feeds can be read by many different software applications called feed “aggregators” or “readers”. The feed aggregator downloads the latest information from the sites that you subscribe to, presenting the information as an aggregated list. RSS feeds are updated when an event is added or changed on the calendar. Aggregators can receive these updates automatically.
Subscribe to the RSS feed
- Select an RSS aggregator.
- There are web-based aggregators (e.g. Google Reader and MyYahoo), as well as those that can be downloaded and run directly from your computer (e.g. FeedDemon). Additionally, many browsers include built-in RSS handling (e.g. “Live Bookmarks” in Mozilla Firefox).A listing of popular RSS aggregators is available from the News on Feeds website.
- Add the RSS Feed’s address to the subscription list of your RSS aggregator.Regardless of the aggregator you choose, you should have an option to “Add RSS Feed” , “Add a subscription”, “Add a feed by URL” or something similar. This allows you to paste the URL of the Feed that you would like to add.To subscribe to the ABS calendar feed, Copy and paste the URL of the RSS feed you are interested in (above) into the “Add RSS Feed” field provided in the RSS aggregator.
